Thought I'd go ahead and change out my bearings and install bearing buddies on my trailer. Is there an easy way to figure out what size I need? Should I just call Ranger?

Take the bearings out and match the size when you buy. Most have tapered spindles, and I think it is 1 1/8" in front, and 1 1/4" in the back, but don't bank on that.

Thanks...the more I read on the internet, the harder it sounds to change everything out. Do I really need to install new races? Is there somewhere I can just take the trailer to have this done?

1 3/8th and 1 1/16 is the normal size. Truck and Trailers will have them. If not, there are #s on the bearings. L68???? Napa is where I send all my calls on these things. The parts will show up as early 70s Ford, Mustang Toreno, ect...

The work is easy to do, just dont over tighten the news ones and pre grease them!! I pack them by hand.

Any local dealership can do the work. Even a local Mom and Pop brake or alighnment center can.

Its really not that hard to do.

I had a wheel bearing go out 2 weeks ago on 153 come home from the river park at 6:30 am. It started smoking, so I stoped and I could move the wheel a little with my hands. I told my buddy well if we make it we make lets go. I took it easy all the way home. Next day I put the jack under the trailer, lifted it up and the wheel just fell off. I had to buy a whole new axle. It scorched and cut the spindles pretty good. The axle I bought came with an E-Z Lube grease fitting in the end which is pretty cool. I was down for 2 weeks cause you won't find anybody around that carries boat trailer axles in stock.
I was at Boaters World the other day and noticed they have a pretty good selection of bearings. They might be higher, but they might have you size.

Trucks and trailers have them all. take one bearing from the front and one from the back and they will match em for you. If the races aren't scored or pitted, use them.
