The boat ramp at Charleston on Hiawassee River is being redone. they are redoing concrete ramp at a angle to help with river currents. also adding a floating dock with improved parking. Work has already started with some new concrete already poured. This is going to be great only 2 miles from home.

Thanks for the info.I put in there sometimes and the floating dock will be helpful. Its kinda tough when your by yourself with those boulders right next to ramp and you have to tie off to those trees.

Man that's good news, waaay past due. That ramp can be dangerous by yourself and without a dock you stand a chance of scratching your boat up. Really glad they have decided to go ahead and get-r-done. I heard that they were gonna build a real nice park up there also

Was by there today and they have already roped off the parking lot going to re-do it also. Looks like they had graded out the grass and was getting ready for gravel and leveling it out some. Didn't get to look at the ramp as they were still there today. Great that they are doing this as I have seen more than the axle get lost over that thing!

I was there today, looks like it's going to be pretty nice. Also looks like they are making it wide enough to put two boats in at a time, that will be nice.

That is GREAT!! It is faster for me to get there to put in than it is at B&B and hopefully will be free, but the way the ramp was, I never could launch or load by myself. When the water was down the ramp was broken and there was no way to get the boat off the trailer without nearly sinking the truck itself. Glad to hear this.

took these pictures of the progress on march 27th but had forgot about posting them till today emoRolleyes
the ramp is looking real good! though with the stained water i couldnt tell how far it went in the water

I drove by here last night with the family to see the progress. The ramp is finished but still roped off. They have a "dock" floating that I assume they will attach a walk way to. The two poles in the back of glock's post is where the dock is at the moment. I also talked to a Charleston police officer while I was up there. He said it should be finished in about a month an a half. They still have to pave the parking lot, but other than that it looks good.

Sorry, didn't take any pictures.

the ramp is now open for business floating dock and all BUT bring your boat bumpers as there are no pads on the dock
as of this morning ( not sure if they will put any on ) also the dont have any cleats on the dock yet .
it does look veeeery good though
