Chatter Baits

I fish it like a spinnerbait. I will throw it in the same general areas. As for colors, go with whatever spinnerbait or jig colors you are confident in.

I rip it, jig it, crank it, slow-roll it...whatever the situation (or my mood!) might dictate. Most often I slow-roll, pulling the rod to get the chatter then let 'er sink. I'm an old-school worm kinda guy, so I'll work it similar to a fast worm retrieve. I work my spinnerbaits the same way quite often.

I don't know if I should let this out, but use white or white chartruce combo, put on a gulp shrimp or crawl trailer. I discovered this techniqe fishing for reds in Florida and Louisianna. works well on bass to. You can also use gulp shrimp on just a flipn jig. To be honest I have not used the crawl trailer yet.. I do know gulp has it out. Word of caution do not leave on hook, take it off and put back in bag after use. If you don't you will have a hard time cutting it of when it drys and shrivels up. I am assuming the crawl trailer in Gulp will work just as well if not better on bass.

So you use the chatter bait fishing for reds? I've heard of spinnerbaits working but never tried a chatterbait. I'm actually leaving tommorow for the gulf to do some inshore fishing. I've always been a big fan of the gulp shrimp...guess I'll have to try the shrimp/chatterbait combo if you say it works. Thanks for the tip.

If you are not gone yet, what part are you going to, I am headed to St. George Island Saturday. I am going to fish insore around St. Marks and Apalachacola. If your in the area I will have a back seat open..

Thanks for the invite, but I'll be in the Destin/Panama City area. My buddy has a flats boat down there and we fish around that area quite a bit with a lot of success. Where will you be in relation to Destin? I'm not familiar w/ St. Marks. Have you heard any good reports lately. I think the weather is supposed to be nice. Good luck to you.

St. Marks is about two hours from Panama City, I have been to alot of places, and St. Marks is right there with the best. You can go to bigbendfishing.net and get a ton of information about the big bend area. It is a great site with good guys who like to fish.
