I did well this am early at Chester Frost .. all I can say is dont go far from ramp , and look for stumps lol, I caught 6 keeper bass. Got there at 5:30am and was done by 7:30am .. 4 on carolina rigs, and 2 on slow rolled spinner bait. ( but at the same time watch out for stumps just below the surface ouch )  Biggest bass was 19 inches, average was 15-16 . And again I found drum .. Im gonna have to change my name to drum king, caught 3 more same size as we caught yesterday on a homemade jig. And of course I have a one that got away story as well

I had what I thought was a jig hung on a stump.. I started jeking on it trying to pop it loose, then the stump moved to the left slowly .. humm I dont think stumps move ?!?! Then the line started moving faster .. I put presure on it and locked down the drag line kept coming off the reel. It wouldnt stop just kept going .. it was pulling my boat.. couple mins later all I saw was a big forked tail splash the surface.. then my 50lb braid popped and it was over.. pretty sure was really big cat. oh well would have just turned it loose any way .. that was fun.. lets doit again.</p>

Sounds like a "fish Tale" to me there NRG. emoLaugh Glad you had a good morning. It's hard to leave the water with a day like to day but I know you just had to pry yourself loose. emoLaugh I would have had to. Thanks for the report.

NRG, I think bobant posted a few days ago that he saw a stump with some prop blades stuck in it at CF. He said "The stumps I'm talking about are the ones to the right as you are leaving the launch area. They will definately tear up the bottom of somebody's boat"

I think it would be helpful if we could figure out where these are for low water next year and post it on a map or GPS coordinates maybe...just an idea next time you might be out that way.

Keep after those huge cats NRG - They are a great resource in the river system and I can't wait to get on the river with 3-4 rods, some cut skipjack, and some cold ones night fishing this Summer!

Great flip and jon! We need to plan a trip sometime...I don't have to wait until Summer...There's just something about a monster cat squeeling off line at night..takes me back to my childhood being scared of being pulled in the water by a big fish (my daughter had the same response first big drum she caught so maybe thats a good sign) ...with rods flying around the boat and someone shining a light in the water waiting to see how big it is. Big Fun!

Im game for big cats anytime .. the biggest Ive ever landed was about 25 lbs, I spent last summer chasin bass, maybe this summer Ill spend more time chasin big cats and other species. Chick creek is full of good cats that you can catch from shore.. every hole and pocket has cats in it .. Ive always wanted to canoe that from east ridge down to river looking for cats. Ive caught several in there in the 10-15 lb range never caught one less than 2 lbs out of there. I always waited till just after good rain, then waited for water to go back down, then the holes would be restocked, and you could catch as many as you wanted. Not that I would eat any out of there .. but sure is fun
