Here's the email and picture I sent my friends today:
I always read various message boards about local fishing. My fishing buddy/brother-in-law/friend Chuck (hereafter referred to as Junior) recently directed me to Chattanooga Fishing Forum. The site is full of local reports and information. Many of the anglers on the site have recently talked about the Bandit crankbait in Root Beer colors.

Junior left for Lake Wylie on Wednesday to participate in a Bassmaster tournament as an observer. He’d called me with updates (got to fish with Denny Brauer!!) on Thurs. and Fri. I’m very excited for him as he had a great time at the event. Anyway, I had about 45 minutes (VERY LITTLE TIME) to fish on Saturday morning prior to going to my grandmother’s house. I went to Walmart and bought the aforementioned Bandit lure. On my second cast with Mr. Root Beer, I knew I had a good one! He came up 3 times and was not very anxious to come ashore. I had no scale and no partner (I miss you Junior) as I evaluated this hog. The best I could do was to get a picture. I recall my biggest catch (Feb. 28, 2004, Booker T. Washington Park, 7:15 a.m., overcast, foggy, caught on chartreuse Terminator spinnerbait in 2 ft. of water, 7 lbs. 1 oz.) and don’t think this porker exceeded 7lbs. He was, however, the FATTEST fish I’ve ever caught. I’ve attached the picture. I’m very thankful that God gives us recreation as part of life….
