Fished today for a couple of hours. Only caught 2 fish, 1 may have kept, but barely if so. Both on a crankbait a few miles down lake from Harrison bay. Looks like another tough tournament this weekend for me. The weather is not looking too good either.

This weekend may be rough with the weather coming in but I would expect the water to be fairly warm by comparison to what it's been with these two great days in a row. If it were me I would try shallow flats or points, 2-10 feet deep that are very closely associated with deep water, say over 20 feet deep. Red or at least crawfish colored cranks that reach bottom early and soft plastics once the sun comes up high are what I would try first. I would stay on the areas that are close to good spawning coves as I really think that if the water is into the low 50's that that is where the fish will be. I don't mean back in the coves but out on the points that are just outside or in the mouths of the coves that are good spawning coves. There could be good fish on the edge of Wolftever creek out in Harrison bay that could be jigged up but you'd have to talk with Jmax about that. I hope that your tourney works out better than what you think.

I threw a craw colored one yesterday and got no bites. The one I caught a couple on was shad colored. I pitched a jig quite a bit on points with no bites, and nothing on a jerk bait.

Okay flip1up, how did the day go? Did anything work? Was it really as nasty out there as it looked? Did anyone do any good today? What was the water temp?

I logged on in anticipation of the tourney results, but apparently no one has had the chance. According to the "Best Days" calendar in the back of Bassmaster, today is the 2nd worst day of the month to be chasing bass. Hopefully, their results will prove the calendar wrong.
