Chick 4/07/06....Jmax

Well I waited around as long as I could for the rain and it still has not come. About 12:30 today the sun broke out here and I could not stand it anymore.emoBang Hooked up the boat and headed down to 58 Wolf ramp here by the house. Decided I wanted to put some crappie in the freezer before they stopped biting so I went up the Wolf to a big flat. The first three casts I had one on.emoSmile I was using a float with a red/yellow tube about 24 inches down. They slowed up right after the three hookups but still did O.K. I ended up with 16 crappie and I passed a couple places I had to throw a bass bait and caught two bass while crappie fishing. One was about 2 and a quarter and the other about 4 lbs. The 4 lber hit a top water spook, boy it was pretty. Busted it real hard and about jerked the rod out of my hands. The wind about blew me off the water but it was worth it. I left at 4:30. emoCool Jmax

Spook, Super Spook, or Puppy?

I was using that newer one that is the half size, it is bigger than a puppie but smaller than the normal. I like it this time of year for pissing off spawning females and territorial males. It has a rattle and every walk of the dog it pops a rattle sound. I was using a bream color. I am going to try it today at the Nick and see if they will hit it there. I hope the storms are not too bad. Looks like it is to clear off later today.emoCool Jmax
