A buddy invited me for a short trip yesterday, despite the rain, I was ready to go. We hit 2 shallow pockets on the lower end that were smack full of bass. There were alot of smaller ones roaming in the very shallow water, but we backed off and caught the keepers in the ditches that led to these coves. we probably landed 25 bass with several nice keepers, and a few good ones that tossed the bait short of the boat. The water was 64 degrees and stained. All fish were caught on crankbaits in water from 2-8ft, the bigger ones were in 5-8ft. It was a wet but very enjoyable 2.5 hours of fishing.

Dang!!!!!emoWorthy emoWorthy emoWorthy 25 bass in the boat in 2 and a half hours. That must have been fun! You are the man there Churly! Thanks for sharing your trip, may I ask the color and type of crank or is that a secret?emoScratch Jmax

We threw a crawfish color and a chartruse and yellow, I really dont think the color mattered as much as the depth. The fish were definitely on the feed. I will be happy to tell ya the bait after we weigh in Saturday. I'm sure the rain and approaching cold front will change things for tomorrow, but I figure I can start fishing there and back track toward the deeper water until we find them. I thought about a topwater yesterday, but its hard to put a rod down when you are getting one every other cast. It was just fun to finnally rip some lips on the ole Chick.

Nice report churls...sounds like you found the right ingredients. emoThumbsup

Glad to see the water warming a bit, I might try to hit the water this weekend.
