After scrambling around to find a ride today, I finally made it out only to score a big fat goose egg on bass. Nada! But my buddy got this guy on a white/chartruse spinner in 8feet of water. We didn't have a trolling motor and were pretty much at the mercy of the wind today. But, beats sittin' on the bank.

Nice Smallie.
Buzz and me went this morning until about noon and fished at Harrison Bay and Ware Branch. We caught 10-12 bass, all lm and only 3 that were keeper size. We released them all. Caught them on small crank baits (crawfish in color) and lizards and worms and also on buzz baits. Weather was cool, water temp about 67-68. Most of the fish were in 4-10 ft. of water.

How big is that smallie? What kind of structure were you near? Not many reports coming in on Smallmouth activity and wanted to know.

We were on the backside of Joe Patton island in about 6 - 8 ft of water. Offshore by at least 150 yards in any direction. That was the only fish we boated of any consequence for the 2hrs we were out. It hit on a spinner while I got zero interest in lipless crankbaits in the same area. We didn't think to measure it, but I'd guess it was 3 pounds easy. Biggest small mouth my buddy ever caught.
