Not to many times you get to post twice in one day, unless your name is LOUIE! Louie was the man today!!!!! He started out with a 5lb bass at the neighborhood pond and then our new neighbor DLancas took us out for some fun tonight on his awesome bay boat for a live bait treat with his buddy Tommy. David is a die hard Striper fisherman and is one of those "I only fish for big fish..." kinda guys. He also is a quiet, shy type guy who DOES NOT want his picture taken, no matter how big the fish is.
So, he invited us out to show Louie how to catch yella tails and how to catch some big bass on a "whatever bites" kind of night. We all had an absolute blast tonight! We put in at Harrison right after the blast off and ran up to Seq. to catch some bait before we hit some deep water humps and holes around Harrison. For Louie that was about as much fun as catching fish.... at least he thought that for a while. While David was tossing out all the bait under 4 inches and throwing out the net to fill the baitwell, we picked up a couple of small shad in the bottom of the boat and dropped them down and allowed David the joy of being a good host and guide. emoPoke Instantly we saw our rods load up and it was on for a long while everywhere we went tonight. Honestly, we had doubles, triples and one time a quad while DHaun pulled up to chat for a while and he too locked into a nice chunky bass for the quad. We actually got so active that we didn't take as many pictures as we could have and DLancas is a bit camera shy. Most of my pics of him tonight were of the splash at his side as he dished off the quality fish being hauled in tonight. But as usual, our little luck charm Louie put us to SHAME!!!! We were all helping him land his fish.
A little drama tonight when Tommy's wife called from GA at their home with a horror story of a water leak in the bathroom that wouldn't shut off, the house was flooding by the second and the new wood floor was going down fast. David looked at his buddy and said, "No problem, let's go. You gotta take care of that NOW!" Then after we got all packed up, just about to throw out the bait - in the middle of doubles and triples.... MULTIPLE TIMES - David started running down scenario's "It'll take you and hour to get home and you can't stop that damage even if we left right now. Why don't you go ahead, bite the bullet and call a plumber now to get them out there!" "Tell her to call a neighbor, or is there someone you can call to run over there and turn the water off?" Louie was about to cry.... I was about to cry.... and we were looking at Dave with our BEST puppy dog eyes. I mean c'mon, a guy's gotta try, right? He called her and she had found a way to get it turned off!!!!! Game on!!!! I'm pretty sure Tommy didn't say two words the rest of the night. I heard the sheepish way that he said, "well, if you got it turned off, I'm going to go ahead and fish...." Not a lot of conversation after that.emoHoppingmad It was an even shorter conversation when she called at 10:30pm to see how close he was to getting home and he told her we just left HBSP and were going to stop and eat. Dang.... that man LOVES to fish. He might not get outta the dog house for a while.
Tonight Louie caught one of his largest LM bass, his largest catfish and his first drum at a respectable 11lbs on the digital handheld. Beautiful night out and it was really nice to be in a boat where four people could be comfortable and have room. Really nice to finally meet DHaun for the first time for me after many conversations and emails over the past year. He's a class act and he too can sit there and haul fish in and not even stop his sentence... I'm pretty sure he caught fish all around our boat tonight. Just an awesome time tonight enjoying the quality bass..... uh, a variety of fish Chick has to offer. We caught magnum whites, LM, DHaun caught a SM while we were there, catfish and a drum. Way to go Louie!!!! Man.... I'm starting to say that a lot. And for those of you that haven't met Louie, he's a real McGuyver kind of kid. I've added a pic of the tree house he's been building. And he will not accept help other than for cash and a driver to take him to Lowes..... thank God Mama works there! Thanks again David for a great night on the water.
