Sorry for the late report. Been covered up this week.
My oldest son, ryan129, met me at 7 A.M. Sat. @ Skull Is. Water temp was 80 early, but rose to 85 later. We started on some ridges off the channel that come up to 4-6' out of 15-22'. Last year this time there were schooling fish bustin' topwater, but few fish up top Sat. Started throwing jigs, shakey head worm, & crankbait. Didn't seem to matter. The bass hit 'em all. Best bait #'s & size was the shakey head. Best fish was a 4# LM that hit the crankbait on a 4' deep hump that drops to 14' then on off into 25'.
Sun., Brent & my wife Kim went out about 2 P.M. It was HOT! Went to a rockpile on a point & the fish were there. Caught over 20 from 5-15' deep on jigs, shakey head & Brent caught 2 over 4# on a 6" pearl swimbait. I've got to get some confidence in that thing. Looks like I'm gonna have to go out with a box full of them & fish nothing else for a few days. It does seem to catch quality fish. Tried to move to another spot & motor wouldn't run. It would fire up & then die, kind of like it was flooded. Pushed the foot throttle to the floor & it would fire, but soon as I backed off it would die, like it was a fuel line issue. Went home & found a liitle leak at the fitting coming out of the fuel pump. Repaired it, but haven't had a chance to see if that was it yet.

Thanks for the report TR20bh. It sounds like you all are on some good fish and bunches too. It's great that you were able to fix the problem without having to take it into the shop. What kind of swim bait is Brent using?

Polo, He's been throwing the Storm 6" Wild Shiner. It's a pretty heavy bait & gets down well. I'm missing some hits on it, so we're going to have to think of some ways to attach a stinger hook.

I saw a TV show about attaching a stinger underneath the single hook baits. They took a swiviel (that was the same length as the height of the swim bait) and put it on the existing hook. then pushed it straight through the longitude of the body below the hook, then attached a split ring and a treble. Clear as Mud I am sure. I picked up a pack of Storm's the other day that already had this set-up on them.
