We put in at Wolftever around noon and waved to Jmax as we headed out to the main lake. Eager to get some tight lines, we stopped and fished the jumps around Patten Island. They went back down at about 2:00, so we packed up and decided to give our two river channel sweet-spots a try. As usual, nothing was on them...haven't hooked anything other than wood on them since we found them a month agoemoScratch. One day they were loaded up with quality bass and now they are a ghost town. My father-in-law was trying to conserve gas, so I suggested running back and fishing the Wolftever area. We found bass holding between 13'-15' around the steep drops and marked tons of bait around them. The bass on cover were easy to catch, but the ones that were suspending gave us a fit...never did figure out what to hook them with. Our totals for the day were 19 largemouth, 4 spots, and 1 very ticked off turtle. We fished the jumps with a Fish-Head Spin and a Rocket Shad, and our ledge bass came on a Double-Wide Beaver and a Zoom Ol' Monster. Although our best five only went a little over 12lbs, we feel like we are slowly but surely catching on to the summer bite on the Chick. However, we have yet to put together a game-plan for the upcoming night Tx.

Oh yeah, to those who spend a lot time fishing in Wolftever, you have my respectemoWorthy! I thought the pleasure boat crowd was bad out in the bay! My legs still think I'm on the water.

Good report Jason, and btw, thanks for the worms last week, I really appreciate them. As for the suspended bass, good luck. They are exceedingly tough, I usually go for the ones near the top or those on the bottom. I think the suspended fish are in a holding pattern and not actively feeding. My .02$

I hope you do better with them than I did...caught a few mammoth bluegill on them and that's it. However, I've done exceptionally well with the Ozmo's, especially around rocky cover with a football head.

One method used to locate the deep fish, is to go over the area with your electronics and fish that are suspended off bottom are usually inactive, and fish right on top of, in, or next to cover are usually actively feeding. My point is if you are trying to put together my game plan for tournament fish dont waist time on the suspended fish, those guys are probably just following the bait around until they "swim off" some of the shad they are gorging on right now. By the way I live very close to Wolftever and love fishing it but it is a playground that is best avoided in the day time on the weekends, but school starts soon so many of those guys will be heading for dry storage soon!

They definitely made it tough for a man to fish slow. With the constant rocking and rolling, it was nearly impossible to maintain contact with the bottom. Makes me wonder how many fish we missed...
