Chick Bass 9-22

I went out after work this afternoon, launched at skull island, worked my way up to possum creek. I caught one on a spinner bait 2lb'er within site of the ramp, moved down the bank and caught 2 more about 14", up at Possum Creek, fished for quite awhile with no takers.started to move further up the creek, and it started raining.. so I went back towards the main channel away from the rain .. just happened to look over at the flat to my right and saw huge splashes and shad flying through the air. I made a abrupt right turn .. and droped the trolling motor.. grabbed the rod with the pop-r 1st cast caught a 2 1/2 lb bass, 3 rd cast 4 lb 12 oz, 5th cast another 4 lb 14oz fish, I lost 1 that spit the pop-r back at me that looked to be maybe in the 6 lb range .. all tallied up best 5 keeper fish 18lb caught total of 28 bass only 2 where dinks, one spot and one small mouth. no pictures camera was at home affraid would get wet in the rain.
This is a heck of a way to get back on the water after a month of no fishing.emoParty

Amazing Luck! Almost too good to be true isn't it? 2 fish over 4 lbs and a 6lber. Wow. 28 bass too! Man that is just like a fairy tale!

Yeah Jason, sounds like he has the bass cornered. Especially catching them on the first cast and all. Maybe we should all take lessons!

I'll bet those were some goodlookin fish too. Like to have seen them, but not at the expense of your camera. Try a Pelican Case for the camera. They are waterproof, shock absorbing, and durable.

Luck had nothing to do with it emoPoke ... Just kidding .. Luck was a large portion of it .. I knew the fish would be starting to move toward the creeks with the cool weather and the rain .. pods of small shad where every where on the surface.. so i knew the fish where soon to follow. all the weed beds I caught fish on where near a creek channel or the river channel ... the one flat I caught the best fish was maybe 30 yards wide 1-5 feet .. and dropped off to 12 .. then 20 I was going to look for more beds like that after the action slowed but it was getting dark .. I had a heck of a time finding the skull island ramp in the dark.. I really need to get a GPS helmet for my humminbird and or a spot light. Now Can I repeat this at the TX only time will tell.. If the fish are still holding same areas maybe

Good report NRG and glad to have you back on. I was wondering with the wieghts you are posting it sounds like you finally got a scale!!!! Those are too to the point on wieghts so I was wondering, did you????? Way to go NRG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!emoParty I trust you used it. When someone tells me they had one that was 4 lbs and 12 ozs. and one that was 4 lbs and 14 ozs. it would be pretty hard to guess that difference. Those were some good fish you ran into. Do you realize that at least for that day you would have been leading the Federation Fish Off????? You would have beat 105 boats of the top anglers in the Federation for the state of TN. With a wieght like that you should have been fishing in it.emoCool Jmax

JSV I didn't say I didn't believe him!!!! I just wanted to clarify my thinking.emoBigsmile I know NRG can catch fish, I have seen it with my own eyes. Heck yeah! The guy must have a knack for catching big fish where others can't!! I bumped into him at my favorite spot and he told me he'd fished it one night and caught 6 fish, the largest being a little over 8 and the smallest being about 4. My hat is off to anyone that can do THAT in one night! Go NRG!
