Fished Richland this evening from 6-dark landing around 10 largemouth with two around 3 lbs each. One of them came on a lizard and the other on a chatterbait. The rest came from the chatterbait. Water temp was 70. Water clarity was a little dingy with clearer the farther back you go. Most came around docks and wood.

good job rrb32. Be glad when i can get up that way. Is the water up in Richland yet? I will be fishing up there some this summer and need a few pointers..???? How is the run out to the main channel? It looks really close at the mouth of the creek on the map. I may be just looking at it wrong but looks a little tight thru there. emoConfused

Yes, the water is up but not all the way. It still has a few more feet, however you can easily run your boat as long as your stay within the channel bouys. The run out to the main river from the boat dock is short, you'll be there in no time. My best producing pattern for summer is to hit the main river and fish the milfoil lines that are shallow with deep water close. There are several places where the milfoil is on a flat area with deep water right beside it. Work those areas with soft jerkbaits. I use Zoom super flukes in albino shad 90% of the time during summer. Thats about all I throw. I will throw buzzbaits also early morning along the milfoil. Gold is my best producer.

Thanks! Maybe I will get to meet you there one day. Hope so. I am gonna try to fish up there some this summer. I live in Polk co. So it is gonna be a drive for me. I will probably take hwy 30 thru Athens and come over. Been hearing some good things from you about up there and want to give it a whirl. Thanks againemoThumbsup

hey there 2k ..if you get up to richland you should also go back into Mud Creek....it is the next very small opening above richland .. maybe a mile ...at first glance you would think it goes nowhere....we had to ease thru last weekend with the water shallow for the first2-300 yards...when you see the first houses and docks go left and around the point and it opens up into two huge embayments with lots of good fishing and deeper water...we probably caught 20-25 fish in there....should have stayed there but it got a little busy with crappie guys and we had acouple of other places to check out....have fished out of richland at least once a year for the last 11 years in our club tourneys..and never realized it was that good an area...seen it on the maps but never ventured back there because it looked really shallow...once you get past the first 200 yards it really opens up and has some good places to fish ...at full pool it wouldn`t be a problem at all....

Guys,
I live with my grandpa in the summer and he lives on Mud Creek. Snuffy if you take the right split you were talking about there are boat docks on the left side of the bank. His dock is in that row.

Besides Mud, try Mitchell's Branch just up the river a piece. On the right hand side. Flip all the cedar trees near the grasslines.

Hey RRB32, did you actually find a Chatterbait somewhere? Or did you make your own with the Eaker Shaker?

Hey RRB32, did you actually find a Chatterbait somewhere? Or did you make your own with the Eaker Shaker?

Someone from another forum informed me about a site that had them in stock so I ordered them from there.

say frazier is that your granpas giant house boat ??? i got to wondering how they got that thing out of there !! Iguess they have to wait til full pool ...we caught several fish down thru those docks...the whole areas really good .....i`d say the stumps in the back of the creeks are getting alot of attention right now by the fish....may have been when i was there last week...just couldn`t get there....is the crappie bite holding up down there ??

I got mine off of eBay for about $7.

SNUFFY, no my grandpa's is one of the average sized ones. I thought they were all about the same size? His doesn't have a roof.
(But the best fishing can be found around it.) :)

RRB32, who had them in stock?

http://mikesrxbaits.com/product_detail_T4_R124.html

That is where I got them. It looks like a few more people found out also and they are pretty much picked through. He still has a few sizes and colors left though. I paid with paypal and got them in 2 days. Super fast shipping and very friendly guy. The color I had used was the brown/black last saturday.

Also, I ordered a few Gambler swim blades from http://www.backwatersonline.com last friday when I called them to see if they had any in stock. He had several colors in stock so I got a few of those also. Havent got them in yet, maybe this afternoon.

Thanks for the info, RRB32. Unfortunately, they are out of stock.

It still shows he has 1/2oz Brown/Black, 3/8oz Green Pumpkin Black, and 3/8oz Black/Blue Chatterbaits. Did you ask him or is it the color you want thats out of stock?

By the way, I did get the Swim Blades in also. They look good, Im anxious to throw the Bluegill color one around some beds. They look almost identical to the chatterbaits except their is no bend in the metal and they are made with Gamakatsu hooks.
