The cats were not as active today like the last few weeks, but the big bite is still there. We fished from 6:30 to 9:30 this morning and put 3 fish in the boat. Weights were 63, 25 and 18lbs.... we unhooked about 7 fish at the boat that were in the 8-12lb range. The fish that Brad is holding in the last pic was very interesting. As I was reeling one of the lines in to go fish another hole, I snagged the next line over. The line from the other rod got twisted on the swivel of the rig I just reeled in, of course a fish takes off on the rod that I have just tangled, lol. Luckily the fish turned and started swimming toward us giving slack line. I told Brad to get the scissors and start cutting the tangled line away.. well he cuts the main line. The fish was right under the boat by this time so Brad quickly grabs the line and wraps it around a bow cleat.... puts on a pair of leather gloves and pulls it in by. handemoLaugh The fish was still very green and proved to be very amusing.

Man, he sure is. Nice fish. Are you catching your bait below the dam? Or is it bait you had frozen?

Yep.... I get all my bait below Chick dam from the bank. I always use fresh if I can get it, but I have caught just as many on frozen. Unfortunatly I only got 5 skippies yesterday evening and had 3 in the freezer.... after today that leaves me with nothing. If anyone ever goes fishing for skipjack and needs a backseater with a BIG cooler... let me know.

Hey,drc I may be hitting the bank tom. morning for some shad. I'll help you carry that big ol cooler down the rocks and help ya filler up. I'll get my sabiki rigs ready.

That would be cool. You know lots of folks tell me I've got it made since I've got no guide competition (on catfish anyway). But I really wouldn't mind some company ... my feeling is that it would be good to have a few more. More traffic simply draws more attention to the area. Look at places like Reelfoot or Kentucky Lake.... more guides there than you can stir with a stick, but they still get tons of press, and tons more tourist/fishing traffic. It is sort of a self-perpetuating prophecy. But if anybody dives in... just be aware "it ain't all fun & games."

Congrats on your new personal best drc! I caught about 20 skipjack below chick dam the other night from the bank...landed 14. They were hard to come by upstream but seemed to be a hotspot just above the RR bridge where I caught more. There does not seem to be a shortage of them right now as a saw hundreds busting threadfin all across the river.

Wow, did that 63-pounder come with a saddle? I'm shooting for a 30 tonight. That's all I want. I'm not greedy. Nice job. And kudos to your partner for getting his cat in the boat by hook or crook, or cleat.

Awesome, way to go!!!!emoBeer

Your story reminds me.....not too long ago I was picking out a backlash in my reel for about 15min.YOU GUESSED IT, it got nailed, and left me reeling it in on top of a nasty backlashemoDoh ended up being a 30lb fish!!
