Fishing Machine picked me up at 6:45 Saturday for a couple hours of catfishing. We got to our spot just in time to enjoy the rain showers those folks fishing the CFF bass tourney endured. But "A Boat Named Sue" (FM's Bennington pontoon with bimini top) kept us a lot drier than the half dozen boats around us.
We were fishing skipjack in about 40-50 ft. of water. The first bite came around 7:15 and was a nice 13.7 blue. We got another one to the boat - our guess was about 20 lbs. - but he rolled and cut the line on the edge of the boat.
FM gave me the next one that about pulled his Flueger baitcaster over the side. We had three bigger catfish outfits and two bass outfits with 20# test and he hit the smaller one. I wrestled with him for 35 minutes before pulling him in. Every time he saw the boat, he'd shoot back down. We thought he'd be a real monster. He weighed 24 lbs, but it was easily my personal best and he put up quite a fight.
FM caught the biggest one of the weekend, 29 lbs., later on with Mrs. FM (I call her mom). In all, we caught fish of 10, 14, 20 (well almost caught), 22, 24, 24.2 and 29.
I'd take that action every day of the week.
