Chick. Dam catfish 7-16-2006

Went fishing this morning with Dad. Two big fish were lost soon after hooking up but he did get thi 18 lb one in for a picture. He also got a 8 1/2 lb blue. We catfished till 9 am then switched over and caught 28 shad to restock the bait freezer.

You can catch all the shad you want right now. Just put on a crappie jig(white or any color really) and real it in while jigging a little and you should get one about every cast.

Coondog, sorry I took so long in getting you your answer. We use 1/60th and 1/80th ounce marabou white crappie jigs. Two at a time and add a pea sized splitshot above the top jig. Fish just below the rr bridge. If they are feeding you will see them jumping all across there. Vary your retrieve to see what they like. We put them on ice and then put them in the freezer in walmart sacks. 3-5 per sack. Wadefishing can be fun off of the gravel bar just below the rr bridge on the Chatt State side for these skipjack.
