Chick last weekend 7-22-2006

Went to Chick on Sat evening for a couple hours and Sunday evening for a couple hours. Found some good fish on a couple deep ledges. Sat. caught one on a DD-22 in the four pound range along with some 12-inchers. Sunday caught my best fish of the year on a jig - didn't have any scales in the boat but I would estimate my largest fish at 5 1/2 lbs. Caught a few smaller fish as well.

Way to go Cope, glad to see ya finding some now. It is a matter of just getting out there and fishing different types of water and structure until you find what works for you. Were your jig fish on a point, bluff, flat, grass or rock??? What do you think made the difference?emoScratch Jmax

Good report, Cope. It sure is fun to find fish in the evenings after the hottest part of the day is over. Been a while since I caught a 5 lb bass. Almost forgot what it feels like. emoGeezer

Came across two keeper fish fishing some deep docks that were in the shade. I caught the big fish and another keeper laying in the shade around the docks. They were in about 10-12 feet of water, with access to 20+ deep water just outside of the shade. Any time I can find some shade near some deep water in the summer I try to stop and give it a try.
