Well I got permission to go fishing today from my beutiful wonderful wife last night at about 9, tried to find someone to go with me but everyone was tied up or not answering the phone so I went by myself again. It was not as good as Sunday morning but it was close. Sunday I caught 55 bass with 15 on a buzz. Today I caught 37 with only seven on a buzz. The rest were all on a worm. Got out this morning at 5 A.M. and headed for the grass I had found Sunday. The first place I stopped after about ten casts I had a good one blow up on the buzz but missed it. Threw right back to the place and this time he got it good. A nice 3+ came into the boat. I thought, man, this is going to be good. But that was not to be. For about the next 45 minutes didn't have a hit. Than I started hitting some fish but they were all dinks. Finally I had had enough on the buzz and switched to the worm. Started on a drop out in the main lake and picked up about ten doing that. No keepers but some nice 13 and 14 inches. Than went back into WT like I did Sunday and hit points. Must have cuaght at least another ten doing that including two more keepers. Finally about 11 went shallow and tried to get out of the boat traffic that was heating up. Caught several more doing that including one more keeper. The keepers today were bigger than Sunday's and I boated four that went 10.25 lbs. The bad story of the day was the one that got away. I was fishing some pilings and there was four of them close togather. Pitched my worm right in the middle of them and had a hit on the way down. Set the hook and it had some weight. Tried to force it and I knew I was in trouble when the bass, about 4+, came up three feet to the right of where my line was going into the water. Kept my line tight and started to troll to the piling and with the bass pulling one way and me the other the line broke.emoBang The pilings were medal and rusted. It was like sandpaper and sawed right through my line. If I had got that one in that would have been my five keepers and I would have had 14.25, not a bad weight for this time of year. Still a lot of fun and very nice morning until the boaters got heavy and waves about washed me overboard.;) Jmax

Jmax, you are the greatest.... emoCool me and the madbomber just hadn't had a chance to get on the lake and I am going crazy... however, next week we will be posting our great fishing trips.... they may be dinks and short but we will get out there and have a good time...
Really enjoyed you posts.... like we say up here in S-D...YOU DONE GOOOOOOD.emoGeezer

Thanks FA, I called Polo, Flip, CCSM, Tarheel, RR, Steve and I think a couple others and never could get someone to hold down the back seat.emoScratch I tried to have a witness. Those bass are really hitting well right now and I love it. Like you said they may be smaller non-keepers but when you are not in a Tx who cares. I just like the feel of the strike and the fight when you set the hook. I still like keeping track of what I would have had in a Tx but I think that is just the competitor in me. This time of year I go to a pumkinseed charetruse tail zoom six inch and they seem to really take it well. Glad you like the posts.emoThumbsup Jmax

You are doing better than me. I went out yesterday and did some exploring and I caught zero fish! I fished from possum creek all the way to the highway 58 bridge on the hiwassee. I just dont have it right now.

WOW!!!! Sounds like you know what ur doing. I'm just a beginer but love to read all the veterans post,I learn alots. Thanks!!!!

Yeah, I had to pass up on Jmax's offer and stay home and paint all dayemoBang . I guess we all are entitled to a wrong decision every now and again.emoLaugh emoLaugh

Way to Go Jmax,

It broke my heart not to get to go with you, but I was feeling a little on the sick side so I think sleeping in did me some good, but I do appreciate the invite. I always catch a bunch of fish when I go with you so there is no doubt you know what you are doing. I hope our luck will hold out on the G for the CFF event coming up. I'm getting fired up about it. I love fishing the edges of the grass. It was great in the mid to late 80's on the Chick and I'm out of practice, but I bet it won't take long to get it back. Just like riding a bike, once you know how you don't forget (I hope)!!!!!!!

Fishing fire I think it is a little of both. I do have a couple of places that seem to pick up this time of year but it always takes a little luck as well.

Beetlespin, I do not believe I have ever heard you say you blanked before. You usually kick our butts this time of year. I guess you left your Tx fish alone for the next one????emoScratch Jmax

Guys you missed a good day!!!emoWorthy

JMAX JUST WONDERING HOW YOU FISH THE WORM, HOOK SIZE, WEIGHT SIZE, WORM SIZE.DROP SHOT, CAR RIG, TEX RIG, TRICK? NEW TO FISHING FOR BASS, JUST DONT HAVE ANYLUCK WITH PLASTIC WORMS. ANY AND ALL PLEASE HELP.

dtw2 I use 12 lb test with a 2/0 tube hook and a 1/16 oz weight, texas rigged. I like the tube hook to finesse with, it has a clip on the eye of the hook and you can clip the end of the worm onto the hook so it doesn't slide down and it stays on better. It is slow go on the points where I fish the 16 to 20 feet but you just take your time. I lift up on the worm and shake it as I pull it up. Most of the time the strike is on the drop when you let it fall back down. Today I had a few of them including that big one that got the best of me take it on the fall of the cast. You just pick it up and feel the wieght of the fish swimming with it and set the hook. I use a light wieght rod with a lot of give so I do not break my line and those hooks are very shape so it still has enough back bone to set it. I use a spider reel very sincative and can feel the slightest tap.emoThumbsup Jmax
