Went to chick today for a few hours after the fog lefted. Not a bad day, a little cool and windy. The water temp. was 51 and the water was partly muddy in the shallows. We had four Lm bass, the largest 2 3/4. All but one caught on a rattle trap in shallow water, fourth one caught by my fishing buddy on a six inch green worm in ten foot of water. I did have a heart stopper today when my rattle trap was inhaled by a ten pound drum about thirtyfive feet out. It was fun until I saw it was a drum, emoRolleyes that's about like kissing your sister. emoPoke Over all a fun day. emoThumbsup

What part of the lake do you like to fish? Were you back in a creek or a slough? Did you try any areas out near a creek channel? Spring? River channel? Could you see any baitfish action?

emoUpsmile Dang it Richard! You done caused me to spew my drink here! Sounds like a good day nighthawk! Except for the sister thing....

Sorry you were disappointed with your drum catch nighthawk. Some days it's better than nothing! Although I wouldn't be happy with one of those suckers on the end of my line either. I know some folks like to catch them, I'm just not one of them.

I can't wait until February so I can start fishing again and working on the location of When's secret holes which are said to be loaded with some BBB's. Big, Beautiful, Bass! :)

1. Where ever I can find them. (river channel mainly)
2. I caught three in slough on rattle trap, one on worm in river channel.
3. We found baitfish in every slough we were in.
The bass were not really chaseing baitfish but swiming under them, slow bite hardly knew you had a bite until you felt the weight of the fish.

The disappointment was it came up quick and from thirty feet our first look at it we thought it was a big small mouth.
