It has been a couple of years since we have made the tripdown from Pennsylvania to fish the area lakes. My first trip was in 2006 when a buddy and I from college started coming down during our spring break, we stayed at his property in Cleveland and fished Parksville and then the next couple of years fished the Chick, Nickajack and Guntersville. Well, we have some income now and we are planning a trip down to the area next spring. We plan to rent a house on the lake and fish for a week sometime in March. This site and the members have always been great and I visit the site just to keep up with the fishing reports... this site is truly one of the best out there and can be an invaluable resource for beginners and veterans alike. Some of the members ( just to name a few of the many, Polo, Pointer78, peck, EricM) helped me and my buddy out in the past and I cannot tell you how much a little info here or there helped us learn the lake or put together a couple patterns during our short stays in the area. We have always been truly grateful. I fell in love with the place on my first trip and have been dreaming of moving to the area ever since.... I'm bringing my wife hoping she loves it as much as I do.
For our trip next spring, we were initially looking at the Mid March but checked and the Full Moon is the 15th... my question -
If you had one week to fish the chick for bass, some crappie, and maybe a try for a couple Eric's pets, what week would you pick?

I was leaning toward the last weekend in March/beginning of April? Do you all find the full moon creating tough fishing?
We would love to come down to catch some of the monster's we have been seeing posted on here but we love thowing traps and cranks and catching numbers with a few quality fish (4-6lbs) mixed in. We are not that interested in gearing up to throw the "RIG"... Also, we are not that into bed fishing... not that we are against it but we aren't experienced at fishing those techniques. FWIW - we are strictly CPR (catch, photo, release) although a few crappie may make it to the pan for lunch.
As always... Thanks.
