Launched from Harrison Bay around noon. Like last week, I started fishing a couple of rock points with no luck using finesse worms. Started fishing docks with the jigworm and a Smallie Beaver. Ended up catching 7-8 fish but none measured. Bite cut off around 3:00. All the fish I caught were in 17- 20 ft. I didn't get a nibble in water any shallower. The fog was pretty heavy for the first couple of hours too. Once the wind picked up, it lifted quickly. Also, I parked beside a red Silverado with a CCF sticker on back. Would have liked to of said hello.

Pointer that was me and my son. You did better than I, I didn't even catch the right species today. I tried what you did but may not have been deep enough. Were you fishing bluffs or out in the open water on drop offs? I was back before Christmas catching them in the open water on the drops.emoCool Jmax

I spoke to Jmax when he was out there today and he sounded like it was pretty lousy out there. I think that the front came through with all that rain in the morning and once you guys were out there the bite was slower because the barometer was probably on the rise by then. Then came the wind and the lock jaw began.

Polo-dog; I found the opposite to be true. As long as the point I fished was being windblown, the bite was on. When the wind stopped at 3 or so, the bite stopped as well.

Interesting, maybe your spot was wind dependent and whatever patterns the other guys were working just weren't. I think that your pattern, deep water near shallow spawning areas is the ticket as long as the water stays warm. I would call it pre-pre-spawn pattern in that when the water is warm like it has been the fish are chomping at the bit to go shallow and waiting for the sun to be high enough in the sky to get them going to the spawning flats. Maybe that's too simplistic but I would have guessed that that point would have been the type that would have produced under the conditions that we've been having and should continue as long as the temp holds up.
