Chickamauga 1-6-07

[Pointer 78]

Got out on the water around 8:30. Ran downriver towards the dam and fished a Pointer 78 in 8 feet of water. Caught 6-7 non keeper LM and Spots until the jerkbait bite faded. Started throwing a junebug Zoom Dead Ringer and proceeded to catch 15 or so more including 4 keeper Spots. Ran back to HBSP and picked up 2jigs. Ran back to the same area. Kept on throwing the Dead Ringer but the bite was slowing. I noticed that 2jigs was funkifying a pumpkin Dead Ringer in the back of the boat. He tossed it out and the dinner bell rang. The fish ate it like candy. Far be it from me to pass up a productive lure so I asked him to color me one. The action heated up once again. We caught another 30 fish including 3 keeper Spots each before calling it a day at 5:00. One of the best days I've had on the water in months. I'll be adding Steve's funky color to my arsenal this season. It should be especially killer on Weiss and Neely Henry this year.
