Launched at 8 out of Grasshopper and fished until 5. Water temp in Grasshopper was 76 and it was 73 up in the Hiwassee. TVA had the water back up a bit. This was a weird day for me ... First, the rain. It poured most of the day and locating schooling shad was next to impossible. Second, I couldn't keep any fish buttoned up. I lost waaay more than I boated. Most of the strikes just seemed to be slaps at the bait. Hard rain and lower light? Maybe, but it was a pain in the arse. All fish boated were caught on a DJW spinnerbait and buzzbait and two more pitching a Zoom Speed Craw into laydowns. The largest was about a 2.5 lb LM that engulfed the buzzbait at the end of a laydown.

On another note ... I see Freebird has joined us. There goes the neighborhood!!!!!!!!! emoPoke

Sounds like you had a good outting considering the weather conditions. I use to love fishing on drizzly days.

I'm going fishing tonight from about 9pm up untill the am hours. Not decided on where to fish yet. My options are putting in at Chester Frost, The dam or Riverpark.

Anybody got any suggestions on what area, locations, lure selection, etc. that I might try from one of these areas? I've not been doing that good at night for the past month. Getting a little frustrating. If my luck keeps up, I may have to start up golfing again and it was pretty frustrating there the last time I played. Just kiddn, I realy enjoy fishing tons, but its a whole lot more fun when your actualy on some kind of pattern.

GMAN, if you are out late, check out the schooling action around the new lighted pier at Ross's Landing.

I took my wife to the walking bridge and then over to Friday's. When we got finished with dinner, she wanted to check out the new area around Ross's landing. The minute I walked out onto the pier I wished I had brought a rod and my wife turned to me and sternly said "Not a word about fishing!" There were a couple of guys underneath the pier bottom fishing while shad and bass were flipping right in front of them. I wanted to go down and show them how it's done...not only were they not catching anything, but both were using spinning reels and retrieving with the reel facing upemoLaugh .

RangerRob. I went today and the fish were just off from what they were earlier in the week. I think that the tropical storm just put them off. Once the weather stablizes for a few days they will be agressive and on the feed again. The wind was from the north and the east and so the fish "bit least". I'm still really excited that there is still a lot of grass in the water and the water is cooling, great bass fishing days ahead in the next four weeks guys and gals, get ready!!!!1
