I fished with an old co-worker today and we launched from Grasshopper at 7:30am. The fog was so thick we couldn't leave Grasshopper for almost 2 hrs. There was zero activity there. I threw a buzzbait 'til I ached and my buddy eeked out one slick. Finally, the fog burned off and we cut a trail. After leaving the creek, we concentrated on a mix of main lake pockets and banks. I saw no shad anywhere. The only thing we could do was cover LOTS of water and hope for the best. We finished at 3 with about 15 caught and only 1 keeper boated ... a smallie that fell for my shallow Berkley Frenzy diver. I did have one come unbuttoned that will keep me up tonite. I never saw it, but hooked it a good ways out from the boat and fought it for several minutes before it came unbuttoned right at the boat. My head tells me it was a drum ... my gut tells me it was a 6 lb smallie emoBang
I'm goin back out tomorrow with no plans in mind. No shad ... no bassemoScratch
