The boat is still out of service so I once again fished from the bank for a couple of hours in my favorite spot. Caught 8 keeper crappie (released four short fish), one white bass, one nice bream and several small yellow stripe. The wind was blowing 5 – 10 mph out of the North and the water clarity was about 2 feet. All fish were caught on wind blown rocky point in about 7 – 9 feet of water. Used 1/16 oz jig head with red and chartreuse gitzit on four pound test mono. I gave all the fish to a couple that also love this spot. NOTE: The couple was fishing minnows with floats with no success! The fish would only bite artificial.

Hey there DirkV may I ask what part of the lake you are fishing on. You beat me and I was in a boat. I had about decided looking at Dhaun's post I should have had my zipper down and maybe I might have done better.emoLaugh I used white and red today a little while but only got the two crappie I caught on all yellow. I never tried the chartruse and red. Either I was not in the right type of area or I wasn't holding my mouth right. Nice catch for off the bank.emoThumbsup Jmax

Jmax - I am in the Harrison area fishing the main lake, which is all I can tell you! Some times you can catch more fish from the bank. In this spot, I assume the fish are facing up current; therefore they are facing away from me on the bank. I cast upstream of the fish, which happens to be straight off the point, and let the bait drift with the current and back into their face. If you were in a boat, you would be moving the bait away from the fish and against the current – to me, this in an unnatural presentation. I don’t know if this is truly what’s going on but it sounds good! It is likely just being in the right place at the right time. I must say however, the crappie have been in this same spot for the last three weekends.
Best of Luck-DirkV

Nice stringer of fish DirkV - It reminds me the basic one rod, one lure thrown in the back of the truck approach works great - Thanks for the report!

Jmax, it must be the mouth part. The zipper part sounds too cold to try if you ask me. Great post DirkV. The crappies tend to like the water cold and clear in my experience. I can almost picture where you are fishing. Sounds like a great little spot. There are lots of people looking at that stringer that are drooling right now I would expect.

Not sure why we have the redundant posts. I deleted the others. I hope the database has not grown too large for the site...or maybe my web hosting company has loaded the server to maximum capacity or is shaving some issues...Let's see how it goes the next few days. I may try to move the site to a new server at some point or remove old posted pics in the database to reduce its size to see if it helps. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks for the report too. Nice fish...makes for some great sandwiches later in the week. You can't beat a jig...were most of the fish on the bottom? That is where I pick up most of my fish this time of year.
