Fished Chaicamauga at Dayton and brought home 22 Crappie anf 2 Largemouth. Caught em all on 1/16 oz smoke grub in 2 to 6 ft of water. Good day for us. Must have caught a hundred of those little stripe bass or whatever ya call em. If you could get one of those at about 1/12 to 2 lbs., it would be a good fight. Fished the jigs really, really slow.... hope this helps sombody.........

Did you catch your fish on the main lake, creeks, sloughs off the main lake or creeks? Were you casting or trolling? Was the water right up next to a creek or other channel or was it far away from the channel? Do you know what the water temp was up there? Sorry for all the questions but it helps me to try to understand the fish in my end of the lake. I don't know if I'll ever get up there to Dayton to fish, but I would like to.

caught most of them in creek off the channel about 12 or 15 ft. Setting in 5 or 6 ft of water and fishing toward the bank. Casting, cause I get bored trolling. Water temp about 54. Fished the river, but didn't do much good. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the report vantoo! Whats the name of that creek in Dayton? I guy I work with was telling me a few weeks ago about a creek in Dayton his dad lived on and I have since forgotten the name.

Richland creek was where I put in. Done most of my fishing there, although I did run down to the Big Island and fish the Hiwassee for a little while. Have a great one....

I hope you put those largemouth back in the lake! there are too many crappie in that river to take the bass out. Please put all the largemouth. Smallmouth back. If you want to eat a bass take the spots!

i reckon u can. i think that a lot of people eat the big ones (1lb and up). i have no use for em and i cant keep the dang things off my hooks. i wish someone would eat them. i know that people eat the ones they catch below the dam cause i have seen some of the bank beaters down there dragging them to their cars.

Stripe are really very good to eat. I don't think that they taste any different than the crappie or bluegills that I eat. I always eat them the same day that I catch them and I always fillet my fish so they don't taste very "fishy". They taste more like whatever my batter is that day.
