I got off early on Thursday (I couldn't believe it!!!!) so I decided to take the boat out for the first time since last fall. My main objective was to just check everything out and burn off some of the old gas. Everything worked great and I did spend a little time actually fishing. I was out from about 1:00 pm to about 5:00 pm in Harrison Bay and just inside Wolftever from the bridge. I found water temps ranging from 57 degree out in the bay to 61.7 in the back of some sloughs. There was no current and I think that hurt the fishing along with the bright sunshine. I didn't see much activity on the depth finder at any depth. The fish seemed to be scattered. I caught and released four bass. Only one would be tournament legal. She was loaded with eggs and came off a stump in about 2 foot of water, so I know that some fish are starting to go on the bed. The other bass were all sqweakers (8" to 12"). I did talk to some crappie fisherman who said that the crappie were scattered, but were starting to move up into shallow water. I saw one boat with 27 nice slabs.
