Sorry about being late posting this, I haven't had much computer time. I got to take another half a day off on Friday the 31st and took my Dad out. His 72nd birthday was 4/1 so it was special to get to take him fishing! We got on the water about 1:00 pm and man did the wind blow in Harrison Bay. You couldn't get away from it. It was even whitecapping in the back of some of the sloughs! I saw water temps from 59 to 61 degrees. My Dad caught about 15 fish or so using minnows. He had a mixed bag of drum, bass, crappie, stripe, and one bluegill. I was throwing a 3" grub on a 1/8 oz. jig head and caught 5 bass (all 11" to 14") and one big crappie. We fished Lowes slough and Wacanda Bay with our best luck coming in Wacanda Bay. Most fish were caught shallow (2' - 3'). We fished until about 6:30 and had a great time. I really enjoyed getting to spend time with my Dad. I didn't care if I caught anything as long as he had a good time and he seemed to really enjoy himself. I'm as guilty as the next guy about not taking the time to take my Dad fishing. He took the time to take me and teach me when I was a child and Lord knows he needed a lot of patience to put up with me and my brothers constant carrying on! If you are lucky enough to still have the opportunity to take that Dad or Mom or grandparent who taught you how to fish, then repay them by getting them out on the lake for a day of fun and fellowship!
