I finally got out on the water today after several weeks of work and family stuff. It was a beautiful day to be on the water, but to say it was windy would be an understatement. I tried to fish some unprotected humps out in Harrison Bay but the wind was too much. I fished from about 11:00 am until 5:30 pm in Harrison Bay and Wolftever Creek. I caught and released 7 bass. All were from 11" to 14 1/2". All were caught in 5' to 10'. I caught one on a S.B., 3 on a finesse worm, and 3 on a C'rigged lizard. The fish didn't seem aggressive today, at least from my perspective. I started out shallow hoping to pick up some late spawners, but no takers. I also fished a while in the 12' to 20' range and didn't have any luck. I saw water temps from 69 deg. when I first went out to 74 deg. when I came off the water. I talked to several other fishermen and they were having a tough day also. I saw where it took 19 lbs. to win the kids tournament out of HBSP. emoWorthy emoWorthy is all I've got to say to the folks who weighed in a good bag today. The wind and bright sky was not what I would have ordered, but as I said It was a beautiful day on the water and I feel blessed to have got to go. I also stopped and had a nice chat with Polo-dog. He spotted my fish and ski when I pulled up to his dock. It was nice to "shoot the breeze" for a while and talk fishing, Mark is a friend I wouldn't have got to know except for the CFFemoThumbsup .

Everyone be safe on the water,

Good report CCSM. I was wondering how everybody faired out in the wind today.. Sounds like a tough day. Congrats to the big bags for the kids tourny! Thanks for the report and keep em coming!

I lost the biggest bass that I ever (almost) caught today! I was fishing in the back of the slough at Waconda point using a baby bass pattern Cotton Cordell crank bait,,, throwning around docks and this bass hit, I got it to the boat ,had it in my hand and it jumped, hooked me in the hand with the rear hook of the crank bait and it was gone,,,It weighed at least 8 Lbs.,,,I almost went swimming to get it,I WENT IKE! emoBang

I did land 3 nice keepers though! emoCool

OUCH! That's adding injury to extreme disappointment. Big bass with a crankbait in their mouth can be dangerous. I see a lot of Saturday morning pros use the "pick'em up by the belly" method. I keep a landing net in the boat. I only use it if I don't think I can swing the fish into the boat and I want to get a picture.

8 pounds?!emoBang What a friggin' bummer!emoBang A bass atacts a human for once, you know how you catch them and it's like you're atacting them, taking control of them, you know whatever. Go to the same spot again and good luck.

Yes TT, Gary should have read that thread. CCSM, it was great to see you, it's been a while since we got together last. Hopefully we'll hook up sometime in the next few weeks. It looks like the next few days should be really nice.
