Hello All,

I got an invite from Polo-dog to fish on the Chick Monday afternoon. He picked me up behind my house around 7 pm and we fished the Harrison Bay - Wolftever area until about 10:30 pm. We caught 5 bass (all small but fun) and I had a great time. It was a beautiful evening to be out on the water, especially after so many windy days! The water temp was around 75 degrees and we saw a lot of baitfish on the graph, especially in the 7 foot to 24 foot range. I appreciate Mark inviting me to go with him and when you go with Mark you get to study the lake bottom and learn to use electronics which is something I need to do a better job at. We caught all our fish on soft plastics on rock structure. I was surprised at how much current we had. Now, I have to add that not only was I entertained by the fishing and fellowship, but Polo's fish crazy dog was fun to watch. This dog gets excited at the prospect of someone catching a fish. You all know how Jimmy Houston is famous for giving the fish he catches a kiss. Well Polo's dog has to smooch on all the fish you catch before you release them. I'm not kidding, she don't hurt them, she just has to lick on them a little. Any fish that happens to jump close to the boat gets her wound up pretty good also! Not only was Polo's dog a trip, but his boat driving after dark while holding the spotlight and trying to pay attention to the graph will ----- well how should I say this --- make you sharpen your praying skills:eek:. All kidding aside I had a great time and I hope everyone gets to spend some quality time on the water soon.

Be safe this weekend, a lot of people will be on the water!

Went out of Chester Frost about 7:00. Trying to find out where to fish for bream. Took my daughter, A friend and his three kids. We did more untangleing of lines and bathroom runs then fishing. Dogfight was wieghing in when we were leaving. Winning wieght was 21lbs+/- and big fish was 5.7. Saw three fish wieghed in over 5lbs. Not bad for three hours. Did talk to one of the guys who had a nice bag and he said that they fished 15-20 feet deep. About all of the info I could get. Question on bream and shellcrackers, what should you be looking for to fish for them? Never went out just to fish for them and would like to get on some for my daughter (hopefully Sat.) She is excited about the Saturday and would like for her to catch some fish.

Folks, it was a great time with CCSM. He caught most of the fish but what's a guide to do. The guy with me usually out fishes me. I'm always trying to get the other guy in position to catch the fish. I was prayin' a bit too when I found that I didn't have enough hands to hold the Q-beam and the steering wheel and the throttle at the same time.
Zunker. From what I've heard recently the big bream and shellcrackers are in 4-6 feet of water and are in sloughs off the main lake and in the creek arms. Crickets, worms and even small beetlespins and in line spinners should do the trick. If it were me, I'd search with a beetlespin or roostertail and once I caught one I'd fish with live bait in the area where I first caught one on the artificial. In other words, search with an artificial and then live bait the beds that you find.
