I took off work a half-day today to fish. Nikie and I launched just before dawn from Harrison bay and fished 3 hours until about 10:30am when the wind started to pick up. Gorgeous morning on the water with my sweetie! We trolled 1/16 oz jigs and caught 57 crappie with 20 keepers in less than 3 hours. It was fast action and a lot of fun!

Lots of small fish in the mix looking good for next year if the droves of anglers I saw out fishing today are throwing them back like they should.

We just kept the 15 largest as that's plenty enough for us and all I ever really want clean. Eating them tonight!

I didnt see you when I went by or I would have hollered. TnDoe said she had seen yall. Great day for you two. emoThumbsup

We left about 10:30 just after TnDoe called and said she was nearby. The wind picked up and I needed to get back home to check up on work...It sure got crowded out there quick today.

Good job on the crappie guys! I was stuck at the desk most of the day.emoBawl Those babies will sure be good eating. How fast were you trolling David and about what depth?

They tasted excellent FF! I love this Spring weather! Had company over to help us eat 'em and still had plenty left over from just 15 fish. We trolled between 0.7 and 1.2 mph based on past GPS measurements of settings #2 & #3 on my Minn-Kota - wind can change that however... I felt what few larger fish we caught came from trolling slower...Depth was 7-11 ft and Water temp was 61.

Thanks for the info David. Hopefully I'll get out there this weekend. I am just so dang conflicted. I don't know if I want to fish for bass or crappie! It would be really nice if they made a trolling motor (probably do) that instead of premade settings allowed you to turn up it like you do a dimmer switch. That speed makes a heap of difference. I've always found that if you find small crappie, if you fish a tad bit slower and deeper you'll get into bigger ones. Thanks again.

David, one question...... DID YOU MAKE NIKIE CLEAN THE FISH????

How come we couldn't catch them when we went??? Glad you all had a good time and caught lots of fish.... FA

Albert, Albert, you shouldn't be asking questions like that! We all know the reason. MadBomber could chime in here if he wanted to. Jmax could comment as well. emoBigsmile emoGeezer You are loved!
PS. That was 2 questions.
