Chickamauga 9/28 at dusk

Fished for an hour and 15 min. tonight after work. Water temp was down to 74 in WT and Harrison bay. The front had moved through and it was chilly out there. I saw only one fish hit the top of the water the whole time that I was out there so I know that the fish were turned off to a large degree. I fished a drop in the creek and told myself that I would only cast 3 times to the sweet spot and if I didn't catch one that I would move on and I didin't get a hit. I then hit the rip rap at Hwy 58 with the wind crashing waves onto the rocks, no takers. Went to a roadbed with rubble next to it and caught a smallie ~ 1lb and a small LM. It was getting dark so went to one of Jmax's spots and caught a keeper that was on the outside edge of the grass and hit right after I pulled free from the grass. It was time to go by then but if I were going tomorrow I'd hit the outside edge of the grass from the beginning. The grass seems to stop at about 6-8ft deep and the fish seem to be there and have been for quite a while. I would keep my boat in 10-12 feet of water and almost parallel cast to the weed edge and I would expect to pick up a bunch. All fish were caught on a big pumpkin/chart worm. I did throw a spinnerbait and a rattlin' chug bug but there were no takers for them. The bite might be slow for a few days with the lower temps.

Yeah Polo that is what I was afraid of with this front coming through. It's a strong one too. Maybe someone will find them in the TX, but I'm sure this will throw all patterns for the last couple of weeks off. May be hard to find keepers or even fish for that matter, on Saturday.

Wormhook, just the opposite. He tried to get me to go with him but I was taking the wife out for dinner, so I asked him to check them out for me and give me some feed back. He gets to check my spots out that I have showed him and I get a report on if they are there. Not a bad trade if you ask me. Polo is not going to be able to make the Tx so he is not our compitition.emoCool Jmax

Thanks for your kind words Jmax. I wish that you could have gone last night. I hope that it goes well for you guys in the morning. I think that it will be pretty cool in the AM, hopefully it will turn them on and keep a bunch of people off the lake. It's a bit cool with 70+ degree water and air temps in the fifties for skiing. Let's hope that it's the end of the big waves for the rest of the year.
