Chickamauga cats 12/17/2006

Well, I thought I'd give a cat report for those that are intrested. It seems the smaller fish have all but disappeared for me, but the big ones can still be caught if your willing to look for them. Iv'e been trying to stay on the move and search for active fish (trying to move every 30-40 minutes)..... 40-60ft is the depth Iv'e been catching them.
One other thing, the Sequoyah discharge area is completely dead for me.... I haven't caught a cat there in close to a month. You would think that place would be on fire right now with the amount of bait hanging around the discharge.

Here's me and WLG yesterday... mine is 56lbs and WLG's is 45

RE: Chick cats

Here's a big blue my buddy Brad got Friday. The battery in my scale was dead so I didn't get a weight.We saw rsimms just after this pic was taken and I told him it was around 60, but after further inspection of the pic it was probably more like 50. My brain does crazy things when there's a big ole fish flopping around in the bottom of my boat.emoEek The other is a 31 lber Brandon caught the other day, I got a 30 also, but Brandon isn't much of a photographer so it didn't look that greatemoDoh , lol.

The bite was really slow yesterday but what did bite were good ones. I have never fished for BIG BLUES in the winter but it seems like the small ones dont bite as much in the winter.

Great report DRC and WLG - Looks like you guys are dialed in on them as usual! emoThumbsup I think that illustrates what an incredible Winter fishery we are lucky to have on the river...Some folks go 20 miles out in the gulf for deep sea fishing - we just go down the road. emoBigsmile

Right on, Dhaun! WLG and I were just saying yesterday how we would rather be hunting big cats right here at home instead of deep sea fishing on a party boat in FL. After the big one you got yesterday your definatly going to finish off your fishing year with some trophys to remember. Just think of the hog you could hang into if you put a piece of spam on you jigging spoon emoPoke , lol.

Not only that but just think of all of the different species you can target within just a couple of hours drive,world class smallies,world class cats,spots,Lg mouths,stripe,heck we even have some great trout water close by!This area is a fisherman's dream!
