My friend Jeff and I went below Chickamauga Dam today for a few hours. Water temp was 48. We got on the water at 12:30pm and went to throw some redfins in the boils. That didn't work out so we started spoon jigging various holes and eddies. We caught 6 smallmouth, 6 largemouth, 6 bream, and 2 yellow striped bass. The biggest smallie and bluegill are in the pics. We left about 4:30pm - All 20 fish were caught on Cordell 1/2 oz jigging spoons in 13-21ft and safely released.

Flip1up, the smallie was right at 3lbs - not sure if it was over 18" since I didn't measure it. I hardly ever keep any fish so I don't have a tape on the boat, but it sure was a scrappy fight...it's about time for me to hook into one with a little meat on it emoBigsmile

Nice smallie, DHaun! Have you had any problems with fish coming unbuttoned on the CC stock hooks? I may have mentioned this before, but if not, switching to a #2 Excalibur rotating treble will guarantee no lost fish.

Jason, I was lucky and only lost one fish yesterday on the CC stock hooks. After losing a nice rockfish last week (redfin treble pulled) I was careful not to horse any fish, but I now understand the importance of good sharp hooks. I typically lose 3-4 spoons to cover on each outing so I don't want to put a whole lot of effort into modifications, but I certainly appreciate the tip and might try it sometime!
