Fishing machine and I met at the marina above the Dam after work to fish from about 5-8pm. The bite was a little slow today. There were a few small fish biting here and there but we only got one fish in the boat...and fortunately it was a trophy sized blue - That always helps! Fishing Machine hung a 33lb blue cat on skipjack!

Not sure why so few bites tonight...if it was all the recent rain or what the moon might be up to (any input on this DrumKing). RSimms, I think you were heading out just as we pulled up to scout around - wondering how you all may have done...

Regardless of the bite it was great to scout that area and to hang out with good company on a very relaxing night on the water. Thanks for taking me Fishing Machine!

Beautiful fish!!!emoToast

How much water was running??? Minner and I were talking about Dam fishing in the fall for trophies, and apparently In-Fisherman claims that big uns will run to the dams in the fall. Of course they tend to focus more on Flatties. I think we are going to do some dam fishing Wednesday at the big G dam, so we'll see if we find a similar situation as ya'll did.

The "smile police" have arrived. emoLaugh
Yes, that was me heading North when you got there apparently. We'd been there since about 2 pm. Caught quite a few... the bite wasn't real hot, but we put 10 or 12 fish in the boat. Biggest was 12 lbs. We should have stayed and fished evening with you. The bite to the North was non-existent. :( Nice fish FM!! Below is how you're supposed to look when you catch a nice fish.... "show me some teeth." emoBigsmile emoBigsmile

We saw you guys over there today. We put in at the dam also to fish that area. We saw that the bite was slow, so we ran up to the nuke plant where it was a little bit better, It was slower than normal up there as well. Nice fish you got there.

Thought that was you... disregard my post in other thread. Wish I'd come to say "hello." I just wasn't sure it was you as we came out. I still don't have your boat nailed down, and I hate making a bigger fool of myself than I already manage.

I would have expected a better bite too with 31000+ CFS all day. Did it seem like the flow was pretty brisk DHaun?

Polo... it was weird today. I knew they were running 31,000, but the flow seemed really poor. I often like to drift with current above turbine intakes and can typically start drift 150 or 200 yards out... but today I couldn't do it. Had to pretty much use the trolling motor to pull until we were nearly on top of the intakes. I think it was largely due to wind. It wasn't blowing real hard but just enough crosswind to counteract a downstream drift. But flow seemed real poor in spite of generation.

I've noticed sometimes that the flow that is posted isn't exactly what I see on the water. I think that there are a lot of factors that effect the flow in a local area of the lake but with the big rains this weekend and the dry weather today I would have expected to be able to know what was being pulled by what was happening on the water. Either it's too complex to figure or TVA isn't telling the truth sometimes.

I ask folks all the time if they are CFFers, Never any harm done. If they are not I encourage them to join up.
Richard, my boat is a Proline Bay CC with a saltwater Merc engine. If in doubt look at the back, "Liveliner" is on the transom.

David, I enjoyed fishing with you yesterday evening, I hate that the fish didn't bite any better than they did. We will do better next time. I think that Richard had given um sore-mouth or something.emoScratch
Good trip anywayemoThumbsup
