Chickamauga Dam Smallmouth 4.5lber 2/26/2007

Could not resist the weather and so I packed up and headed to the Dam with my two boys tonight. Water was 50F with one generator running. Trolled for 2 hours and picked up 3 fish. One small striper at 6lbs, and 2 smallmouth. One smallmouth was 12" and the other was 20" and in the 4.5lb range. He was a big one! He had a crawfish in his mouth not yet swallowed! Had to work the lures SLOW and rip them off the bottom. One hit on a Threadfin crankbait and the other on a bone/white one. Good evening to be on the water and the sunset was awesome!

A big smallie is always a treat. Any particular area that seemed to hold them? Rip rap, hole, shoal?

I did not see any skipjack around. Won't be long before they show up. The fish were holding in a deeper 10ft. pocket. Caught all fish in the same spot on that hole.
