Went above the dam last night to fish for whatever was bitting. Started off by hunting for Threadfins either on the surface or down deep. Could not find any so we set out to troll the bank. Trolled for an hour and picked up 6 fish, all were small with 1 being a keeper in the 16" range. The keeper was taken in 8 feet of water holding to a down tree. All were caught on a crankbait (spatterback). Water Temp. was 75F and still not where I would like it to be. Waiting fo the low 70's to upper 60's before it heats up.
Kept the large bass to eat and while I was cleaning it I checked the stomach. The bass had 1 bluegill in it the size of a half-dollar. That was all, no shad!
Decided to try and pitch some jigs for some Crappie with none to be found. A good trip with enough action to keep my boys interested. What depths are the crappie at right now? The docks I were fishing were in 5 feet of water with nothing.
