We have decided to drive in from Virginia and give this area a try. Would like to find some catfish but open to other things! Any advice for some travelers??

Get Richard Simms to take you and cut to the chase. emoThumbsup Scenic City Fishing Charters, advertised on here. He can put you on them. emoToast Jmax

Thanks for the reply's! We travel all over and fish everywhere we can find to try new water. This place just kinda caught my interest after our James River trip washed out with horrible weather forecast. I appreciate the help

I bet if you drift below chick dam you could probably catch a lot of eater catfish right now. I know that bite was awesome last year around this time when I took some kids a few times. We caught a few good ones too!

emoThanks for the vote of confidence everyone. emoThumbsup

MtnWay... as mentioned, drifting the tailwaters downstream from Chickamauga Dam is what's been working for me lately. Often fish are concentrated near the Dam this time of year, but not this year. We're catching some fish up there, but mostly small. Our better fish are coming downstream.

Of course our spawn is getting under way now so we're not catching many tanks. But we're getting solid numbers of 5 - 15 lb. blues. Most fish holding near rocky structure, 15-30 feet deep.

For a while we were doing good in the Watts Bar Dam tailwaters, but I haven't been up there in more than a week so I don't know what's happening now?

First time I suggest Richard Simms ( and later on if you want to catch ) to see this river system.Highly respected on this area.

I usually do well fishing the bluffs near skull island. Very good currant at nuke plant. Also the bluffs at Harrison bay. I usually just deep line a piece of bluegill on several poles. Fill the boat up
