Fished on Thursday and Saturday with some decent catches of stripers. Went out on Thursday night for a few hours with my dad and son and caught 3 in the 8-10lb range. Fish were caught using crankbaits and big redfins. We had two stripers hit at the same time and were able to get them both in the boat.

Went out again this morning before light and the fishing was pretty good with two fish (10 and 12lbs)coming before daylight and then they were not interested in what we had to offer them. If you fish Chickamauga, fish right at light or right at dark to increase your odds. This is based on personal experience and reading other posts on the forum. Hope the action continues because there is nothing like a huge striper slamming your bait!

I agree, they don't play around with it, just SMASH IT. I had two lures I have had to change out the hooks on them. Another good reminder, if your hooks look like they won't hold up, THEY WON'T. I have had many fish slam me and bend or straighten the hook out.

You are so right about 1st light and last light as being the best times. Need current flowing though at least that is my experience. This time of year there is nearly always current flowing. Great fish and tasty too. They are my favorite fish to eat. Deep fried in peanut oil or on the grill. They just can't be beat, IMO.emoThumbsup emoGeezer
