hello guys!! i have a 99 model javelin renegade 19 with a johnson 175 faststrike motor. I was wondering if any of yall would know if a jackplate or hydrofoil or anything else that would possibly help eliminat the chinewalking i am experiencing at about 61 mph or so...Thanks for any information

A jackplate may help but you will probably still experience chinewalk. You basically just have to constantly correct to the left to avoid it. There used to be a really good video showing how to do it on BBC.

Hey man, I had a 18' Venture with a 200hp merc that would do the same thing. A jackplate will definitely help. Get you a plate that has atleast 8" of setback. Also raising the motor up in 1/4" increments will help too. Just be carefull you don't go to high or those water intakes will suck air and you'll POP that motor.

You may still have some chinewalking, but you will be able to manage it by making small steering adjustments to counteract the chine. Hope this helps and good luck.

thanks for the info...i am going to try to change props and maybe add a different style of hydrofoil before i try the jackplate. If anyone else has a sugestion i would appreciate it.

something that helped my bullet tremendously was balancing the boat. i took a large carpenters level and put on the front deck (while in the water ) then rearranged things
until it sat level in the water. for things that couldnt be relocated i used bags of lead shot to help out . now it doesn't start to chine walk until about 72 (unbalanced it starts at about 63) and is manageable up to 81 (the fastest i have had it) . i believe the boat has more speed in it than 81 but not with me in it emoTongue

Almost all high powered bass boats experience pad wobble and some experience chine walk. If you can drive out of it its not chine walk. If it is bad its usually a setup problem. Most of the time the motor is too low. If you have a jack plate its easy to raise the motor. If not, try a 4 blade prop like a trophy and see if that helps. With a performance boat you will always get some walking regardless of setup. You just have to learn to correct it before it gets started too good.

my 340 Ranger chines at about 55 and gets through it around 60 then smooth riding after that with a 150 merc on it turning 6000 rpm they say a four blade would help but running a 23p laser 2 ss prop, the balancing gear really helps more than you think it would if your alone and tackle on drivers side, move stuff around and see the difference it makes

My Norris Craft starts to walk around 70, but it can usually be handled with some good heads-up driving. Ive had a close call a time or two though! Definately not a fun feeling while skipping across the water at 70+!

Try arching all of your paths instead of trying to drive a straight line. If I will slightly arch my path so the wheel is constantly turning a tick to the left, it seems to dissappear.....but that could be because of the severe weight distibution difference on the port side! hehe
