My plan was to put in mid day at Riverpark and fish below the dam. Wasn't to be! I got to Riverpark about 11:20 and the lot was full with no overflow parking since Riverpark itself is closed. I decided to drive across the river and put in at Rivermont. That wasn't a good plan either. They have the road and most of the boat ramp parking lot all torn up with construction and by the time I got over there the wind was blowing like crazy straight into the dock. I hate that dock because it sits so high that your boat will go under it and get beat up so I just decided to put in above the Dam. When i got there I talked to a guy who had just spent an hour and his brother got very wet getting their trailer unhung where it had backed off the end of the ramp. With the water as low as it is we all need to be careful about dropping our trailer tires off the end of the ramp. With my little 17' tin bass boat and single axle trailer it isn't much of an issue I fished around the dam throwing a jerk bait, swim bait, chatterbait, and I even threw my trusted finesse worm some in the rip-rap although this isn't really finesse worm season. Fished about 2 1/2 hours with not even an imaginary bite. Water temp was 52 to 54 degrees, clarity very good. It was very overcast. The wind really started blowing and I got to thinking about all the stuff I could be getting done on my last day off before going back to work so I put the boat on the trailer and got it cleaned up good. Better fishing days are ahead. That's what I love about fishing, it is an activity that has a lot of hope. Just because today wasn't good doesn't mean tomorrow won't be. I hope everyone had a very blessed CHRISTmas and will have a great New Years. Happy fishing everyone, see you on the water.
