Well it took long enough but I finally got out on the water in the Skeeter. Tried to do some scouting around for CFF#2 which is Saturday with no luck emoBang . The fish seemed to all have lock jaw for the most part. I tried everything I knew and only had 4 bites in 5 hours. I managed to get one fish in the boat, a 17" fat LM and had a small spot jump off right at the boat. Just not a lot of action. Water temps were middle 50s, water clarity was good and there was a lot of current. Weather wise it was a perfect day on the water to test the new boat. I am impressed with it, I purchased this boat without ever being in a Skeeter of any kind . It has a great ride and seems very solid although other than some boat wakes it was pretty smooth. I didn't get to wide open but did see 73mph on the gps at 5700 rpm. It had some more left and that was with just me and full fuel tanks, 9 rods, and my heavy tackle backpack. I'm not a speed guy anymore so 70+ is plenty for me and pretty impressive considering it is a big heavy 21' boat. The Yamaha 250 SHO is one strong beast for sure, it has a smooth turbine like sound to it. The ride was really good with no chine walking, in fact I could have easily turned loose of the wheel at 73 - it was that smooth. I love the side scan Humminbirds on it and everything seems to have a solid feel and good fit and finish. I think we are going to be in for a tough day on Saturday but I also know that someone will find them and there will be some good bags. Jim and I finished 2nd in this one last year but I am not optimistic for that high a finish. He pre-fished harder than I and didn't have much luck. Well everyone dress warm and I'll see you at the ramp. Attached is a pic of my Bug as I pulled her out on Thursday.
