I messed up and fried the water pump on the Skeeter and finally got all the parts and replaced it so decided to try it out for the first trip in the bug on Saturday. Met Mike at the Rivermont ramp about 6:40 am and launched the boat. I held my breath as I cranked it but after a few seconds the motor started to pee so I thought all was good. We launched off and the Yamaha Sho ran great all day. The water temp was 69 to 70 and the wind was light so I thought we would have a great day catching lots of spots. It wasn't to be. We fished close in shallow on rock and wood, we fished deeper down at the bend and I even ran to suck creek to open the motor up some and make a longer run but the results were disappointing, at least for the water temp and time of year. We managed to boat 17 fish and lost a half dozen or so at the boat. We caught spots, google eye, big bluegill, and a few largemouths. No bass over maybe 2 lbs. We came off the water around 12:45 pm. All fish were caught on worms or creature baits (june bug and green pumpkin). The flow was pretty high (50K+) and I think that may have impacted the bite but that may also be my excuse! I enjoyed the beautiful day and the great fellowship with my friend since high school (we are old now so friends for a long time!). Wish we could have caught more but there is always next time.
