I wasn't sure if I wanted to battle the crowds on Memorial Day and try to get a little fishing in but at the last minute I decided to give it a go. I knew the Chick would be crazy so I elected to try the Nick and fish Riverpark. I started around 7:00 am and fished until about 1:00 pm. The day was very pleasant but the wind did get up a lot. Water temps were 72 to 74, flow was about 18K although almost no water was moving early. Water clarity was very good. I fished all sorts of soft plastics - t-rigged and drop shot and tried top water early. No takers on top or with the drop shot but I managed to boat 10 fish using t-rigged finesse worms. Nothing even close to big, even by Riverpark standards. The river was amazingly crowded. The fish I caught ranged from right on the bank to 15' deep. No pattern that I could tell. It seems the fish are post spawn and are just scattered. All the bites were very light, usually they would just pick the bait up and swim with it. It was good to get out but I was disappointed in both the number and size of what I managed to catch.
