Sorry for the late post. I've had a terrible jinx going on all this year on the Chick. I just can't catch numbers of bass so I decided to hit the Riverpark to change my luck emoParty . Got on the water about 8:00 am. Nice calm winds with not much flow. It wasn't long before I had boated a couple of spots on finesse worms fishing what else - riprap emoLaugh . Not big fish but fun. I moved around a bit and ended up fishing around Williams Island. I threw the june bug finesse worm next to a log in about 10' of water and got a tap. Set the hook on a decent fish which jumped like crazy and then went straight down. Now I'm in 15' of water and the line just goes still. emoHoppingmad emoHoppingmad I'm hung up on the bottom and no sign the fish is still on. I'm not happy about this emoRedface . I start to break the line off and then thought - that fish could still be on there after all it was hooked good. I just waited about a minute and all of sudden the line went tight again and my rod loaded up. The fish was on but it was still hung up in something on the bottom. I couldn't move it and it couldn't move me - we had a standoff going emoPoke . I decided to just let the line go free spool and see what happened. After several minutes the line started moving off toward the main channel. I waited until I knew it was clear and then took up the slack and the fight was on again emoTongue . After a while I landed one very tired but very fat healthy looking LM. It weighed exactly 5 lbs on my scale. The fish was exhausted so I put it in my livewell with the aerator on and worked with it for a while to get it to sit upright. After several minutes it seemed fine so I let it ride around with me for 1/2 hour or so to be sure and then released it. It was very happy to get going and rewarded me with a big tail slap on the water and splash in my face - I thought well you're emoWelcome . I moved around on down toward the bend picking up a fish here and there until the clouds looked dark and I could hear thunder in the background. I headed in but didn't beat the rain. I didn't care - final count 17 bass in the boat - several others hooked but lost at the boat. Got off the water about 1:30. Had a great time. I had the 5 and another that would have went 2 or so. All the rest were typical Riverpark spots from 10" to 13". Flow was about 20K, water temps were low 80s. I caught all the fish on finesse worms (junebug, bama magic, redbug) except one small fish that hit a small white spinnerbait. I'm looking forward to our CFF event Friday evening / Saturday morning. I hope that I can help poor ol Jmax out for a change emoDance and that we all don't get too emoRain WET.
