I owe Mr. Wiskers for a fantastic day on the water! To make a long story short my son in law Jordan was coming into town for the weekend. His Dad, James has been sick and hasn't gotten out much for around a year. I have been having a terrible spring this year as far as fishing goes. With the water up then down, hot then cold then hot, well you all have been here and know how crazy this spring has been. Anyway I really wanted Jordan and his Dad to catch some fish on Saturday. I had been reading about some good catches on the Nick and one of our resident Riverpark spot experts is of course Mr. Wiskers. I have never fished the riverpark area so I sent Mr. Wiskers a PM telling him what I wanted to do and asking for some general guidance. He did a lot better than general guidance. He gave me a detailed game plan that worked perfect. Where he said there would be fish was right on and where he said we could just skip over because they wouldn't be there he was exactly right. We launched right at 7:30 from the riverpark and I told my guests that we should shoot for a 100 fish day. They said "right, isn't that being a bit ambitious". Jordan's Dad caught a spot while I was parking the truck and we were off to a good start. We hit the first area on the detailed list and we had 29 in the boat. We moved to the second spot and by the time we left we had 96 in the boat. The third spot ended the day around 5:00 with 170 fish landed. It was just an unreal perfect day. The cloud cover helped, the wind was mostly nice, current flow was good. The water temp was 67 and the spots were spawning big time. We fished rip rap using a bunch of different baits. Most of our fish were caught on T rigged finesse worms, in line spinners, bettle spins, and small spinner baits. Most of the 170 fish were spots but we also got into some magnum sized blue gills and caught some google eyes. It was just awesome. I can't thank Mr. Wiskers enough for his help. He even called me a couple of times to check on our progress. As I said Jordan's Dad has been very ill and he really enjoyed the day out. He learned to worm fish today and picked it up very quickly and was hauling them in left and right! I've attached a picture of Jordan and James with (4) spots that were just samples of the fish we caught. We caught quality fish all day. I know when you see (170 fish day) you think: Sure somebody caught a bunch of little bream and 8 to 9 inch spots but that was not the case today. The Lord just smiled on us and blessed us with one of the best days of fishing I have ever had.
