I had a little time on Saturday to get out and see if I could fool a fish or two. My plan was to fish the morning at Riverpark and hopefully start out catching some on top water. I launched right at 7:00 am. I ran up toward the dam and it was dead, dead, dead. I didn't expect much flow early and there wasn't much at all. I threw top water and not even a blow up. I switched to finesse worms and swim baits and nothing, not even a bite. I moved down river a few miles and it was just as dead. I did finally manage to catch a 10" spot off of a piece of wood shallow. Finally at 9:00 am and with 2 bites total and one fish I needed to either make a move or go to the house. I decided to pull the boat out and relaunch above the dam. I stayed down low and manage to catch 5 small bass on soft plastics over the next two hours which wasn't terrible for numbers, not great but not like Riverpark. I just couldn't get any size at all. There wasn't much wind and it got real hot real fast. At 11 my time was up as I needed to get home to take care of some projects around the house. Water temps were mid 80s, water clarity was very good. I think the fact that it looked like the lake level had fallen, especially at Riverpark might have been a factor. Everyone stay safe and look out for the other guy. Lots of people running around and as you all know, not all them are experienced boaters or paying attention.
