I was just wondering what everyone is having today for there Christmas dinner. I just got finished making Mallard Duck Casserole and Gadwell duck giblet gravy. emoHungry Not the traditional I know but after Thanksgiving the turkey and ham thing just sounded repetitive. I am having as sides Walnut Duck dressing with the gravy on top. Also sweet patatoes with marsh mellows melted and pacans mixed in. Chef side salad with of course ranch dressing. Add corn on the cob and cranberry sauce, you have a Christmas dinner fit for a King!!!! emoHungry

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a safe and wonderful New Years. By the way make sure you have a designated driver that night. emoAngel Jmax

Duck sounds great Jim..what time we eatin?

Christmas Eve has aways been...Smelts, Fish Stew, Egg Plant Casserole, then we throw in our favorite greens such as asparagus (steamed) along with some green beans with onions. My Dad makes his lentils (yuck)

Christmas dinner consist of fresh homemade Raviolis, homemade Meatballs, homemade Sauce, ham with coves pineapple and apricots. Salad with homemade Italian Dressing. Then a few other family members bring in some of their dishes like hash brown casseroles ect ect..

Yep, Italian all the way. 38 years now for myself :) Love it!

Duck sounds great. I loves me some duck but since I don't hunt them I don't get to eat it much.
Italian is good anytime for sure Billy. Never had it for Christmas but I would. :)

I have a prime rib on the grill. When it is done and resting I will be grilling some fresh asparagus. Making a Gruyere Chardonay cheese sauce for it too.
Also will be having herb roasted Yukon gold and baby red potatoes. Rosemary peppercorn bread, grilled. Sallie made a to die for apple pie for desert.

what time do I need to be there Cheez? I think I can get the car packed and make the 500 mile drive in 5 or six hours if I do it right.

Starting off with some nice smoked Gouda, cheddar, and Havarti cheese's and gourmet crackers from SImonton's Cheese house in Crossville.

Artichoke-spinach dip with pumpernickel and rye party breads.

Prime Rib tonight with roasted pearl onions, twice-baked potatoes, fresh asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Fresh sourdough rolls, and a nice wine to go along with it.

Pecan-sweet potato and dutch apple pies, and fresh raspberry, blueberry, and banana trifle. I am gonna eat till I bust today... emoHungry

Lunch is at 2 pm. Better drive fast. emoBigsmile

Yea Cheez, I come from a very long line of Italians so its only fitting to do whats been done for many, many years. I know my Great Grandmother as a child did these same dinners so its kinda nice to have one time of the year for tradition.
I'll sleep good tonight and gain a few more ;)

I very seldom hunt them anymore as well. My dad lives to duck hunt. He has all the bells and whistles. The duck boat, the lab, the decoys, the pop up blind, calls like a duck, ....the works. He has duck hunted all his life and could be a guide. I told him I would not mind having some ducks when I went to the deer camp this year in Arkansas and he brought me about 20. emoDance He gives a lot of them away since my mom is in a nursing home it is just him so he never cooks anything. He is about duck hunting like we are about fishing. He is also in the place to do it. Lots of ducks.

I ate so much I feel stuffed and about to pop.

All of these sound so good. I was surprized to hear such a variety. emoThumbsup Jmax
