I would sure like to roll that ole clock back and be sitting in that 53 Chevy headed down 41 to my Grandpaw's farm in Red Bud Ga where we spent every Christmas when I was young. The first thing I would do when we got there was head for the wood burning kitchen stove and grab me a fried apple pie that my granny always kept in the warmer. My Daddy, brothers, cousins and uncles would be gathering around the big red oak in the front yard with a pack of Georgia red beagles getting ready to put some hurtin on some rabbits. We would hunt till dinner time while my Granny,Aunts, and Mama would be preparing a spread that I wish everyone could get a chance to sit down to. Back then the adults would eat first then the kids, things have changed a little bit since then. After dinner we would open gifts. There wouldn't be any Vidio games, X-Box, or the newest toy on the market mostly socks, and maybe a clip on tie. My granny always gave me a clip on tie with matching socks and my aunts would give me a bottle of ole spice cologne. I would leave there smelling pretty good. Some where along the line we quit doing that and now I'm so worn out by the time Christmas gets here all I want to do is rest. It's hard for some reason or the other to get everybody together on Christmas day. Seems like Christmas starts a couple of days before the 25th and ends a couple of days after I hope everyone gets to be with their loved ones this year to celebrate Jesus's bithday and have a safe and merry Christmas. I might just take my wife fishing. .
